The Great House
Great House Farm
This place is old, very old, 600 years or so. It is also one of the best examples of a cruck construction building. Betty Lloyd will welcome you with home made welsh cakes and tea as she has done -since FreeRein first started back in 1989.
Tending to the hungry and weary rider or walker is Bettys speciality - plus morning tea delivered to your room to start the day. She is on Offas Dyke Path between Hay and Kington and innumerable walkers and riders have sat in front of the open fire and looked up at the old beams and the massive crucks.
As one would imagine the food here is absolutely that wholesome stuff you need at the end of the day - and indeed at the beginning of the day. But spare a thought for the trusty stead who will be carrying you before you reload your plate too many times.
