The Guided Trans Cambrian South - 6 Days
Enjoying a canter on Ynyslas beach after six days and 100 miles in the saddle
Ride across Wales from border to coast . . .
The Trans Cambrian South riding holiday starts near the Welsh/English Border in the Wye Valley and finishes on the sands of the Dovey Estuary on Cardigan Bay - a six day journey in the saddle crossing Wales along unmarked tracks and trails through wild, remote hills and mountains.
Staying overnight at small inns along the trail with the first night at a country hill farm. Riders carry spare clothing and personal effects in expedition saddle bags attached to the saddle. The route covers over 100 miles in total and is suitable for those who are happy and confident cantering and also have a sense of adventure! The trail is a completely different route to the Trans Cambrian North apart from the last day where both rides join at Talybont.
Wild and remote Cambrian Mountains
Stay overnight at Inns on route . . .
This riding holiday starts by following the Wye Valley up to Llanerchcoedlan Wells then along the northern edge of Mynydd Eppynt before heading north into the Cwmdaudeur Hills - the vast wilderness forming the catchment area for the Elan Dams which keep Birmingham in water. A nights rest here at the Trout Inn.
From Beulah the route travels through the mid part of the Cambrian mountains. Very remote terrain this, and totally off the beaten track. Eventually the route drops down to the ancient abbey at Strata Florida to stay the night at nearby Pontrhydfendigaid at either the Black or Red Lion Inns.
Day four travels out into the western side of the Cambrians and Elan Valleys and stays the night at The Hafod Hotel, Devils Bridge. A popular tourist attraction with beautiful waterfall walks (if you have the time and energy!).
An amazing adventure . . .
On the fifth day the northerly and southerly riding holiday routes join and riders stay the night at Talybont. Here there are two inns, the White and the Black Lion.
From Talybont it is a leisurely ride to the coast at Borth then - if the tides are right - a 3 mile ride along the sands to Ynyslas to meet the equibus for the return journey to FreeRein HQ. If the tide is in there is still over 1 mile of beach to enjoy before your pickup.
