The Guided Trans Cambrian South - 6 Days
Introduction
The Trans Cambrian South starts near the Welsh/English Border in the Wye Valley and finish on the sands of the Dovey Estuarty on Cardigan Bay - six day journeys in the saddle crossing Wales along unmarked tracks and trails through wild remote hills and mountains (see map below and the Trans Cambrian Trail Map). Staying overnight at small inns along the trail. Riders carry spare clothing and personal effects in expedition saddle bags attached to the saddle.
Ynyslas Beach & deepest Wales!
southerly Route
This year, for the first time, we are able to offer a southerly route which was explored by FreeRein Staff during last autumn (pic above right). This starts by following the Wye Valley up to Builth Wells then along the northern edge of Mynydd Eppynt before heading north into the Cwmdaudeur Hills - the vast wilderness forming the catchment area for the Elan Dams which keep Birmingham in water. On the fifth day the northerly and southerly routes join and riders stay the night at the Lion in Talybont. From here it is a leisurely ride to the coast at Borth then - if the tides are right - a 3 mile ride along the sands to Ynyslas to meet the equibus for the return journey to FreeRein HQ.
