Explore the Radnor Hills . . .
This is a fine tour of the Radnor Hills staying at two country guest houses – The Old Rectory, Cwmfillo or New House on the first night then onto Bettws or Glanoer on the second. The outward route usually travels via Painscastle and over Llanbedr hill to rest the first night at one of the Begwns trail guesthouses.
And the heart of Powys, Mid Wales
On day two cross the open bracken and heather covered expanses of Glascwm Hill, Little Hill and Gwaunceste Hill. Take a picnic lunch for this day from your accommodation and tether up on the hillside and take in the views. At the ancient four stones your route drops down off the open hill along the old green lanes via Franksbride to stay the night at either Bettws or Glanoer.
The ride journeys through the heart of Powys. Powys was found to be the happiest county in the whole of the UK. A scientific study conducted by the universities of Sheffield and Manchester has officially proved this. The researchers also make the point “it’s no coincidence that the happiest area in the survey is the least overcrowded”.
Stop for a pub lunch . . .
The final day’s ride crosses beautiful Aberedw Hill then traverses the Edw Valley and past the mysterious ‘Ireland’. If you make an early start, there is then the chance to have a relaxing pub lunch and beverages at the Roast Ox Inn. Then get that last canter of the day while travelling back to Freerein HQ via the Begwns.
