How long will I be out riding for each day?

Make sure you pack some nibbles and plan your day to incorporate breaks

We are asked this question a lot here at Freerein Riding Holidays!

All of our riding holidays are real trail rides, so you travel from place to place on a new route each day.

On all of our trails, Self Guided, Guided and Adult Learn to Ride, you are out riding all day – six or so hours.

During this time you’ll cover approximately fifteen miles, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.

There will be time to stop for a relaxing lunch, either a picnic in the hills, or a pub lunch.

There will also be plenty of time for a few shorter breaks throughout the day.

Finally, we advise that once an hour, you leap of of the saddle, and walk leading your horse; just for five minutes or so to stretch your legs and grab a slurp of water from your saddlebags.

To get the most out of your trail you simply need to be reasonably fit, and enjoy being outdoors come rain or shine!

Please do get in touch if you’d like any further information on any of our riding holidays – we love chatting about hills and horses:
