heading into the Wye Valley
Introduction
The Wye Valley in its Upper reaches is rightly renouned for both its salmon and scenery. The Builth trail through the hills crosses either side of the Wye Valley and offers panoramic views to the Brecon Beacons & the River Wye.
Builth Wells
Starting from Pendre Barns you cover the Length of Llanbedr hill before crossing the Wye and skirting the edge of the Eppynt Range then descending to the Market town of Buith Wells. Here there is a choice of accommodation at either the Cedars B&B or the Lion Hotel. Please note that on summer weekends there are often large events in Builth Wells so that it is not possible to do the Builth Trail - Please ring for details.
Return Route
There is a choice of routes back to Painscastle either follow the same route or over Aberedw hill and a possible stop at the Hundred House for lunch. Two good long riding days.
