an old drovers road

Teme Valley - 4 days

During this trail riders experience the full diversity of tracks and terrain offered by the Radnor Hills.

To New Radnor

The ride to the Bache from Pendre Barns could take you across the moors to either the Forest Inn or Red Lion for lunch (check opening times with FreeRein) - but this would mean an early start. Say 10a.m. at the lastest. Otherwise bring packed lunches and ride via Glascwm Hill and Black Yat to New Radnor. You would then have the choice of trotting up the lane to the Bache or taking the track which climbs up through the woods before comming down into the Bache.

Beacon Hill

The day from Bache to Belmont Cottage in the Teme Valley ends with fine open hill and a birds eye view of the Terme Valley as you descend steeply from the Gwernygrufryg Ridge. It is a day for those who would enjoy finding their way along quaint old byeways and green lanes - ideal practise for riders who may be thinking ahead to embarking on a Trans Cambrian Trail.

Severn Arms

From the Teme Valley to the Severn Arms you will return to the grassy slopes of the Gwyrnygufron Ridge then make your way to a fine track running beneath the Radnor Forest all the way to Penybont and the comforts of the Severn Arms Hotel.

Return

The return to Painscastle along the high and exposed western edge of the Radnor Forest (panoramic views across Wales) offers the option to stop at the Forest Inn or the Red Lion for lunch - but do check with mission control (FreeRein HQ) as their opening days / times depend on the time of year.
