You may have already done a FreeRein Trail Ride. If so, you may wish to start your next horse hire trail from Pendre Barns in Painscastle. Of course you still have the option of all of the trail riding starting from FreeRein HQ. But with Pendre Barns as a starting point, the 4 & 5 day trails reach Beacon Hill and the Teme and Ithon Valleys. The Severn Arms on the far side of the Radnor Forest becomes a longish two day ride, whilst the Radnor Valley Inns become overnight stops for variable length trails of 2 & 3 days. Alternatively head eastwards along Newchurch Hill, Offas Dyke and Hergest Ridge to stay at the Harp Inn, a pleasant 2 day trail ride stopping in Gladestry for lunch at The Royal Oak.

Trail Riding from Pendre Barns

Pendre Barns in Painscastle is normally half a days trail riding from HQ. Regular riders wishing to extend the range of places to visit, especially on 2 and 3 day trails, often start their trails from here. Arrive as usual at HQ Clyro to pack saddle bags and go through maps and route descriptions then meet us with the horses at Pendre Barns. On the left of this page we have tried to categorise some of the horse hire options open to riders starting from Clyro and Pendre but this is, of neccesity, somewhat random, so do ring to discuss your requirements.
