The Old Drovers Trail - 3 Days

This classic trail, which explores the best of the Radnor Hills, will have special appeal to riders seeking very flexible length riding days. Each day can be shortened or lengthened according to how the legs or other parts, are coping.

Out on trail

The first day out from FreeRein follows one of the Begwns Trails (page 18) to end the day with a warm welcome at either Cwmfillo, Bryngwyn, Newhouse, or further on, Great House Farm. Riders who would like an evening drink please remember to pack a bottle or two with your luggage and we will deliver.

Lunchstops

The following day, follow heather moorland tracks with options to pause at either the Royal Oak or Radnor Arms for lunch, to reach either the Red Lion Inn or the Forest Inn, both on the edge of the Radnor Forest, in the afternoon. The Red Lion Inn changed hands towards the end of 2007 and late season rider reports are good.

Early finish?

On the last day a longish ride via Glascwm Hill to Painscastle where there is the option to continue on to FreeRein over the Begwns or for horses and riders to retire to the Ox and await collection.
