The Radnor Farms Trail - 3 days

Explore the Radnor Hills . . .

This is a fine tour of the Radnor Hills staying at two working hill farms - Llanerchcoedlan and Bryngwyn, Cwmfillo or New House. The outward route usually travels the length of Begwns then descends through old green lanes and woodland tracks to cross the River Wye at Llanstephan.

Here the wooded Wye Valley is at its scenic best. The rocky outcrops and the rapids of Hell Hole are visible upstream as you cross the river by the old suspension bridge.

From here this horse riding holiday climbs back out of the Wye Valley over Cefn-Gafros common coming gently to land at Llanerchcoedlan Farm. This is a favorite stopping place for riders offering excellent hospitality.

The Radnor Farms trail can be ridden in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

And the heart of Powys, Mid Wales . . .

On day two you recross the old suspension bridge that spans the river. The trail then leads along historic green lanes and across the gorgeous heather covered moorlands before reaching one of the Begwns Trail farm houses for your second nights stop.

The ride journeys through the heart of Powys. Powys was found to be the happiest county in the whole of the UK. A scientific study conducted by the universities of Sheffield and Manchester has officially proved this. The researchers also make the point "It's no coincidence that the happiest area in the survey is the least overcrowded"

The final days ride crosses beautiful open hills of Llanbedr, Red Hill and Rhulan. There is then the chance to have a relaxing pub lunch and beverages at the Roast Ox before getting that last canter of the day while travelling back to Freerein HQ.

First Day . .

Arrive at FreeRein HQ at 9am.

Pack saddle bags then prepare your horses.

Go through your individual route pack & depart.

Out on trail all day.

Arrive at your accommodation, untack, feed & turn your horses out in the field.

Relax for the evening and enjoy a home cooked meal.

Second Day . .
