Our fifth top tip when heading out onto the hills…

Pre departure checklist

Preparation is important to have a safe ride.
So just take a few minutes to check off these essential things before setting off:
Clothing
Essential Accessories
Your gadgets
Riding Equipment
Tack & your horse
Clothing
Make sure you are wearing your most comfortable riding outfits, when trail riding you’ll be out all day everyday in your riding clothes and you’ll want to be comfortable.
Waterproofs for those unexpected showers and wearing the right socks is definitely important – Happy feet make for happy riders!
Essential Accessories
The company you’re riding with will always have a first aid kit on hand. However, it’s always a good idea to pack some of the essentials, like lip balm and always make sure you’ve packed enough suncream.
Your Gadgets
A Phone, helmet or chest mounted camera to film your adventure and maybe even a power bank to keep everything charged up on the hillside.
Riding Equipment
Hit the trails in style and comfort, and don’t forget your riding hat.
Inspect your tack & your horse
Check your tack – as broken tack is a huge safety hazard, so this is not one you want to overlook!
Before each and every ride, it is vital that you clean out and check your horse’s hooves. You should pull out any debris and foreign objects such as stones that could be very uncomfortable to walk on. Tighten your girth and you are good to go!
