Wye Valley Trail

Explore the Wye Valley on this spectacular two day trail.

Horses fed and tacked-up, stirrups adjusted, girths tightened, maps and routes studied and checked – now climb or leap into the saddle and head out on trail!

Your trail begins by winding up the old, quiet lanes to the Begwns, an atmospheric expanse of bracken covered hill offering panoramic views across Wales and back across the Wye Valley to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.  Wide, firm grassy tracks make for easy route finding and fantastic canter opportunities!

Drop down off the Begwns into the Wye Valley along old green lanes.  Enjoy a canter along the banks of the River Wye to Glasbury to round up your first day.

Stay at a warm and welcoming B&B or hotel…

Your overnight accommodation is at one of the fantastic little B&B’s or hotel situated in Glasbury. Your evening meal is taken at the refined & comfortable Foyles or another local inn.

Your horses stay the night at a 10-12 minute walk away at a local farm.

Wake up and hit the trail…

After a comfortable nights sleep and a hearty, homemade breakfast its time to return to Freerein.  Your trail takes you on a different route back up to and across the Begwns, before leading down into the little village of Painscastle.

After lunch its back up onto the hill for the final part of your day.  Enjoy a few more canters before winding back down the lanes to Freerein HQ.
