Old Radnor Trail

Long days in the saddle and staying overnight at the pretty hamlet of Old Radnor.

We all look forward to welcoming you on the Old Radnor Trail Ride.

Ride to Old Radnor

The Old Radnor Trail is a two day trail ride staying overnight in the village of Old Radnor from which this trail takes it’s name. It is two medium to long days in the saddle of 16-18 miles in length. On the first morning of your horse riding holiday you’ll arrive at Freerein HQ to pack saddle bags, go through maps and routes and of course collect your fit and friendly GGs.

For Freerein+ trail riders only

Please note that this trail ride is only offered to those with previous experience of one of more Self Guided trail rides with Freerein. If you are contemplating your first Self Guided trail with us you can view a selection of suitable trails by following this link: horse riding holidays.

If some members of your group have done previous Self Guided trails and others haven’t, bookings on Freerein+ trails such as this one should be suitable for you and you are most welcome. If you are unsure please do not hesitate to contact us for a chat.

Explore Offa’s Dyke & Hergest Ridge

The trail ride to the Old Radnor takes you past the Royal Oak in Gladestry. For lunch tie up somewhere along Offa’s Dyke after Newchurch or for an early nibble on Newchurch Hill by the old railway carriage. Lots of good canter opportunities along Offa’s Dyke and Hergest Ridge. One of the many highlights of this route is the part of Offa’s Dyke which takes you along the Hergest Ridge of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells fame before the exhilarating steep track which takes you to Old Radnor.

Enjoy an overnight stay at a highly rated Inn

The Inn is a very popular stop for Freereiners. It offers an interesting and varied menu prepared by their professional chef. The rooms have been extensively renovated. The horses stay a 5 minute walk down the road with a friendly local farmer.
